Animal Unit: Reptiles and Birds

As we continue our study of animals we did a little lesson to discuss animal habitats and what all living things need to survive. We went on a “Habitat Hunt” and they had to collect a green, yellow, orange, and pink square that was scattered around the room. We then put them together with the blue triangle to make a home and to signify all the elements needed to make a habitat. We also learned that animals are classmates and how their characteristics of how they are born, move, body coverings, useful or harmful, how they breathe, etc…decides what animal class they belong to.

Next animal class we learned about were the dry, scaly reptiles. We made these cute turtles.

Then we learned about birds and made these cute birds and then did a literature and writing activity to go with the story Q is for Duck. We made our own class book called R is for Book and filled it with related alphabet sentences. They were very clever writers!

I am pretty partial to these last 2 samples :) Glad to know they are learning and they love coming to school!
