The next animal group we did after insects was amphibians. We compared insects and amphibians and how they are alike with the growing stages of these animal classes. We learned the big word “metamorphosis” and that insects and amphibians both go through their life cycle change. We used several literature selections to learn about frogs and toads and did a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast frogs and toads. They also made a life cycle wheel for frogs.
We read the story Once There Was A Bullfrog and the students did a compound word sort to go with this story.
A favorite activity we did was check out some books from the library on different types of frogs. I put the kids into cooperative learning groups to learn about a their frog. They did a graphic organizer and collected their information then made these cool posters to tell about their learning.
