We began Monday celebrating President’s Day and learning about the symbolism of our American President.
We learned a lot about two of our greatest presidents Abraham Lincoln and George Washington and how they helped start our country. We also discussed how our countries laws are made, what it is like in the White House (132 rooms was amazing to them!), how we honor our presidents by putting them on our American money, and naming buildings and cities after them. We read the story Abe Lincoln’s Hat and learned how he kept his special papers inside his hat so he wouldn’t lose them. They made Abraham Lincoln with his tall hat. We also learned that George Washington was a general that led our country to freedom from England and how he became our first President because of his leadership. They were surprised to learn that George Washington was our only president that didn't get to live in the White House!

President’s Day
Red Eyed Tree Frog
In our reader we had a selection teaching us about the Red Eyed Tree Frog. The students loved learning facts about the rainforest and about this little frog. They did a great job writing about what they had learned about the Red Eyed Tree Frog. Their writing samples and cute art jobs are hanging outside our classroom.
